Offerings and Tithes are integral in the upkeep of the Church and as a way of thanking the Lord for what He has done.
Let us take the following verse taken from Luke, Chapter 21 Verse 1 to 4
And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all.
For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God:
but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.
Our Lord did not condemn her for giving what little she had left. If we were not to give offerings or tithes any longer He would have said so. That would have been a perfect example.
Let us take a look at Malachi Chapter 3 Verse 8 to 10
Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say,
Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there
may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing,
that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Think on it and you be the judge.
